Hey all my name is Max and I want share my longer thoughts with people on the internet. My goal in writing this is to put myself out there and get feedback from people. At the very least I hope this can be a useful way of developing my communication skills and maintaining my thoughts over time.
A little about me, I really enjoy machine learning, skateboarding, and software engineering. I live in Houston, Texas at the time of writing and live with my two roommates Josh and Rachael. We also have lots of animals at the house! There are three cats: McBeastie, Cat, and Little Monster. Three Dogs: Meena, Dog, and Belly ( Smelly Belly ). We also have three tanks of fish. Currently we also have Josh’s friend Hayden visiting with us from Florida while he’s working remotely for Los Buzos resort.
I have worked a 9 to 5 in software with a focus in data science for close to two years now. It has been a great learning experience and I am grateful for it due to my lack of a formal education. However, I find it more interesting to experiment with and explore my own ideas than to pour my soul into a company that couldn’t possibly benefit much more or thank me for increasing shareholder value. It has it’s benefits working in the “energy” industry but as a whole it sucks and I hope it dies a slow death. I’ll table that for now to avoid becoming too cynical but maybe the topic will be worth revisiting in a later post.
I’ll end it on some things I’d like to talk about more in the future. I’d like to describe the journey of creating a progressive web app. Specifically creating an application on top of Instagram that makes sharing, searching, and mapping skate spots easier. I also plan on posting about the revival of my Super Smash Bros Melee AI project, explaining back-propagation of neural networks, and of course detailing the setup of this blog, in case you ever wanted to set one up for yourself.
